Tongue-tingling cuisine is now available at 1201 Westheimer, where CultureMap reports a second location of Mala Sichuan very quietly opened last Tuesday. The original location is on Bellaire in Chinatown. Food editor Eric Sandler reports that the “food matches, or possibly even exceeds, the first location in terms of quality,” with some of their classic dishes as well as new additions like green peppercorn beef.

Summer of Wine
Starting June 20, Camerata at Paulie’s (1834 Wertheimer) will offer wine seminars once a month over the summer. Tickets are $60 a person, available for purchase online or at Camerata. The first class on June 20th from 2 to 4 p.m. focuses on wines from France’s Loire Valley; July 18 brings information on wines from Down Under (from 2 to 3:45 p.m.); August 29 will be a wrap up and tasting inspired by a statewide sommelier conference held just before (also from 2 to 4 p.m.).

La Grange Is Closer Than You Think
Eater Houston caught a preview of “coastal Mexican bar” La Grange, which took over 2517 Ralph, formerly occupied by EJ’s. The hiring process from both front and back of house has begun and the decor is coming together quickly. No official opening date has been announced yet.
