Montrose home to award-winning public art
The “Funnel Tunnel,” a 180-foot public art installation in the esplanade of Montrose Boulevard — adjacent to Inversion Coffee House, and produced by the Art League of Houston — is not just pretty to look at, it’s officially award-winning.
Artist Patrick Renner, a Houstonian, was recognized recently by what Culturemap says is the “only national program to specifically honor public art,” the Public Art Year in Review. The quirky and colorful wood-framed work is not only one of the coolest sights in town, it’s now certifiably one of the coolest public art installations in the country.
